Automatic URLs

A URL rule makes certain addresses always open in IE mode, so you do not have to ask for it every time.

1. Open the options and go to Automatic URLs.
2. Turn automatic URLs on.
3. Add the address of the portal you want to always open in IE mode.

Each rule can also pin the engine version used for that address, in case a particular portal only works with one version. If you do not set one, the profile's version is used.

Exceptions

Exceptions are addresses that never open in IE mode even when a rule matches them. They are how you carve out one part of a portal that already works fine in the modern browser.

Import and export

Rules and exceptions export to an Excel workbook, with a sheet for each, and import back again. There is a downloadable template with the instructions inside. It is the practical way to prepare the list once and hand it out, or to keep a copy before touching it.
